Chess Opening Tips

Develop pieces and control the center before memorizing lines.

Fight for central squares with pawns and pieces. Develop knights and bishops so they influence the board, and prepare to castle when it is safe.

Avoid repeatedly moving the same piece without a reason. Bringing the queen out early can let your opponent gain time by attacking it while developing.

Try 1.e4 and develop a knight toward the center when the computer response allows it. Contest the center, protect your pieces and adapt to the actual position rather than following a memorized line blindly.
